Linnpower Gearbox Compatibility & Selection Guide

Linnpower is globally recognized for defining the standard of Premium Electric Skateboard Gear Drives. Whether you are riding the EVO MK-1, the racing-bred THE ONE, or the long-range OX, our gearbox systems are engineered for one thing: unmatched durability.

1. The Evolution: V4.3 AT & V4.3 MT

V4.3 AT (The Pioneer): Originally famous for its role in early high-end boards like the Meepo Hurricane. It features a high-grade POM main gear.
Note: Linnpower V4.3 gearboxes have a legendary failure rate—less than 0.01% after tens of thousands of miles.

Universal Compatibility: Fits Onsra Velar, Exway Atlas, and Evolve (GT/Hadean/Renegade, however, it's important to note that we're not sure whether the V4.3 AT gearbox is compatible with the Evolve Diablo series or not.).

V4.3 MT (Mountain Board): Introduced with the EVO MK-1. Optimized for heavy-duty mountain board trucks (22mm to 18mm sizes) with reinforced CNC 6061-T651 aluminum housing.

2. High Performance: V4.3 2IN1 (4G & 3G)

With the launch of THE ONE, Linnpower introduced the V4.3 2IN1 4G version. Like the Linnpower V4.3 MT version, its housing is crafted from high-quality 6061-T651 aluminum and precisely CNC-machined as a single piece. The gearbox retains the high-performance 4-gear design, offering excellent shock resistance and durability. Compared to standard gear structures, the 4-gear setup engages more teeth simultaneously, resulting in smoother operation, higher torque capacity, greater impact resistance, and lower noise.

The main difference between the Linnpower 2IN1 4G version and the MT version lies in the large gear: it has been upgraded from POM to steel to ensure it fits THE ONE. This redesign allows for a smaller and thinner gearbox, reducing the volume by 45% and weight by 12%, while increasing strength by 470% compared to the Linnpower V4.3 MT version. Essentially, the Linnpower V4.3 2IN1 4G version was developed because the Linnpower V4.3 MT gearbox could not fit THE ONE. The unique structure of THE ONE requires a smaller and thinner gearbox, making the 2IN1 4G version a perfect solution.

V4.3 2IN1 4G (Maximum Strength)

Specifically developed for THE ONE. We swapped POM for Full Steel gears and moved to a 4-gear (4G) setup.

  • Compact: 45% smaller and 12% lighter than the MT version.
  • Ultra-Tough: 470% increase in strength compared to previous generations.
With the release of the OX, we introduced the Linnpower V4.3 2IN1 3G — the first 3G gearbox under the Linnpower brand. Like all our gearboxes, it has undergone extensive testing over a long period. Prior to this, we had also designed 3G gearboxes for other brands.

The V4.3 2IN1 3G gearbox maintains the same housing material and sealing structure as previous V4.3 versions, and the gears use the same high-quality materials as the 4G version. The reason for the 3G version is that the OX requires a longer gear center distance (the distance between the motor and axle center). Compared to the 2IN1 4G version, the 3G version offers better compatibility, while the 4G version provides the highest strength. If your board’s performance is close to or exceeds that of THE ONE and installation space allows, we recommend the 4G version; otherwise, the 3G version is the more suitable choice.

V4.3 2IN1 3G (Maximum Compatibility)

It features the same high-quality materials as the 4G but uses a 3-gear structure to accommodate the longer motor-to-axle distance required for OX-style setups.

3. Street & Mini: Linnpower ST/MINI

Based on rider feedback from the Viper and Zephyr (Pro/Base) series, we launched the ST/MINI line. These feature a slim, all-steel 3-gear design perfectly suited for street wheels and street-style trucks while maintaining the same mounting pattern as our larger units. The V4.3 MT, V4.3 2IN1 3G, V4.3 2IN1 4G, and Linnpower ST/MINI gearboxes all use a clamp-mounted structure, with identical mounting hole patterns for easy compatibility.

Additionally, the buffers for V4.3 MT, V4.3 2IN1 3G, and V4.3 2IN1 4G are interchangeable, meaning the hub-end connectors are compatible with EVO MK-1 boards. The ST/MINI gearboxes feature brand-new buffer designs with Kegel-spec connectors, ensuring smooth performance and reliable installation.

Linnpower Gearbox Maintenance: The 5,000km Rule

Our gearboxes are engineered for extreme durability and minimal upkeep. Here is everything you need to know to keep your ride silent and smooth for years to come:

  • The Gold Standard: We recommend adding a small amount of lithium-based lubricant every 5,000km (approx. 3,000 miles).
  • No Disassembly Required: One of the best engineering feats of the Linnpower gearbox is that you can add grease without taking the unit apart.
  • The "Silent" Signal: If your gearbox is operating smoothly and sounds normal, there is no need to open it up for internal repairs. "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" applies perfectly here.
  • Built to Last: Many riders in our community have reported clocking tens of thousands of miles with zero mechanical failures. A quick grease top-up at the 3,000-mile mark simply ensures your gears stay in factory-perfect condition for the long haul.

Why We Choose Straight-Cut Gears?

While helical gears offer slightly less noise, they generate axial thrust, increasing heat and bearing load. For high-performance boards like the EVO MK-1 and THE ONE, Linnpower prioritizes mechanical reliability and raw strength. Straight-cut gears are simply more robust for extreme riding.

@Jimark ventura Zephyr Max Gearbox Compatibility Guide:
For Zephyr Max, the following gearboxes are compatible: V4.3 MT, V4.3 2IN1 (3G&4G), and ST.

If you prefer street wheels (85mm–125mm):
Choose the Linnpower ST gearbox.
The stock bash guard fits directly with this setup.

If you like large wheels (125mm–200mm):
Choose the Linnpower V4.3 2IN1 3G gearbox.
You’ll need to purchase the OX bash guard to fit the Zephyr Max.

If you only ride via pneumatic tires only:
Choose the Linnpower V4.3 MT gearbox.
Please note that there is no bash guard option for this configuration.
