Linnpower Belt & Gear Ratio Guide
Learn how to optimize your Linnpower electric skateboard’s performance by understanding belt sizes, motor and wheel pulleys, and gear ratios. This guide provides stock specs, recommended upgrades for larger wheels, and tips for proper belt tension and maintenance to ensure smooth rides and long-lasting drivetrain efficiency.

Linnpower Electric Skateboard — Belt & Gear Ratio Guide

Belt-drive systems have long been loved by electric skateboard riders for their low manufacturing cost, simple structure, and flexibility. By swapping motor pulleys or wheel pulleys of different sizes, riders can easily fine-tune torque, acceleration, and top speed to match their riding style or terrain.

On Linnpower belt-drive boards, when upgrading to larger wheels, we generally recommend replacing the wheel pulley at the same time. This helps maintain proper torque balance, smooth power delivery, and overall drivetrain efficiency.

So you may be wondering:
What belt size should I use when changing to a different wheel pulley?
And if I only need a replacement belt, what is the original belt size for my board?

The chart and guide below will give you a clear, easy reference for all Linnpower belt-drive models.

Why belt size & gear ratio matter

Your drivetrain setup — belt length, motor pulley, wheel pulley and overall gear ratio — greatly influences ride characteristics. These elements determine acceleration, torque, top speed, motor load and compatibility when switching wheels (e.g. 85mm → 105mm or 6" pneumatics).

Stock Belt / Pulley / Gear Ratio Chart

Model Stock Belt Stock Motor Pulley Stock Wheel Pulley Gear Ratio CTC Distance*
Viper 216Wh 245mm 13T 36T 2.8 56-60
Viper ER 432Wh 255mm 13T 40T 3.1 56-60
MINI 5 245mm 14T 36T 2.6 56-60
Zephyr Base 260mm 14T 36T 2.6 62-66
Zephyr Pro 285mm 14T 45T 3.2 62-66
EVO MK-1 Lite 360mm 15T 60T 4.0 72-80
*CTC Distance means Center-to-Center Distance (mm). Please avoid using the minimum or maximum values to calculate the required belt length. If you are unsure how to use this value to determine the belt length, please contact us before placing your order.

When using different wheel:

Model New Wheel Size Stock Motor Pulley Recommend Wheel Pulley Belt Size
Viper 105mm 13T 40T 255mm
MINI 5 105mm 14T 40T 260mm
Zephyr 105mm 14T 40T 270mm
Zephyr 125mm/115mm 14T 45T 285mm
EVO MK-1 Lite 125mm 15T 45T 310mm
EVO MK-1 Lite 200cm 15T 66T 380mm

If you plan to modify your board setup, please make sure to check the belt tension before riding.

How to change  gear ratio and new wheel diameter:

FYI:
As of now, all Linnpower boards use “Belt” for the Motor Type, and 7 for the Motor Pole Pairs.
As long as the drive system is not a hub motor, we should select “Belt Drive” under Motor Type — this applies to both belt-drive and gear-drive boards.

Quick tips

  • Check belt tension: You should be able to press the belt lightly by hand and feel it rebound — this indicates the correct tension. Temperature changes or prolonged riding may require rechecking the tension.
  • After each ride, inspect the belt and pulleys for debris. Cleaning helps extend belt life.
  • When in doubt, ask before riding — avoid riding under abnormal conditions, such as unusual clicks, noises, or vibrations.
